The family of Patrick and Yvonne Boucher had their first family reunion in almost 50 years this summer.
Family members gathered at Nadeau Point in Eagle Lake on Aug. 29.
Patrick and Yvonne Nadeau lived most of their lives in the St. John Valley, both in St. Agatha and Fort Kent. They lived on a farm and had 12 children.
Their children’s names were: Lorette, Larry, Norman, Doris, Raymond, Val, Melvin, Odette, Gilman, Nelson, Theresa and Donald.
Most of the siblings lived in the New England states. Every summer, many of them returned to the St John Valley with their children to spend time with their parents and cousins.
Currently, there is one surviving sibling: Odette (Boucher) Nadeau, who lives with her husband, Barney, in Fort Kent.
Carmen, the wife of sibling Melvin, was present and lives in New York.
The Boucher grandchildren — who are now parents and grandparents — hadn’t reconnected with their cousins in nearly 50 years.
In Eagle Lake, the cousins posed for a photo, holding numbers that represented the oldest to the youngest.
The day filled with fun, hugs, laughs and shared stories from the past was priceless. Family members said they were grateful for the memories made and the memories to come.
