The 18th annual Maine Academic Scholarship Pageant and Green Carpet Fundraiser Event was held recently in South Portland, with 83 vying for titles, scholarships and the opportunity to represent the Unite Against Bullying ME Crown CARES project in Maine schools.
The titleholders will be traveling to Orlando, Florida in July of 2027 to compete for the national titles at the USA Ambassador National Pageant.
Three crowns went to those with Aroostook County ties.
Lauren Clayton, 15, of Caribou, was crowned USA Ambassador Miss Maine Teen 2027.
A sophomore, Clayton enjoys staying active through cheerleading and recently began learning how to weld, adding a new skill and interest to her many activities.
She looks forward to representing Maine, giving back to her community and making a positive impact throughout her year.
She is the daughter of Stephanie Plourde and Justin Clayton.
Madelyn Sylvia, 21, a Mapleton native, has been crowned USA Ambassador Miss Maine 2027.
A stylist at Shine Salon in Westbrook, Madelyn is an active community volunteer with a passion for supporting Maine students and educators. In 2022, she founded two service initiatives: If You Give a Teacher a Cookie, created to recognize and show appreciation for Maine educators, and the Maine Snack Food Program, which helps provide classroom snacks for students while easing the financial burden on teachers who often purchase them out of their own pockets.
Since its launch, the Maine Snack Food Program has provided more than $4,000 in snacks and drinks to classrooms across Maine. In 2026, Sylvia expanded the initiative by introducing Snack Ambassadors, volunteers who help bring the program directly into their own communities by collecting and delivering snacks to local classrooms.
Sylvia plans to continue expanding her service efforts and using her title to support Maine educators, students and communities throughout her year of service.
