PRESQUE ISLE , Maine – Who hasn’t enjoyed Saturday morning in front of the television with a bowl of cereal in one hand, spoon in the other? Oh, you haven’t? Well, now’s your chance to reclaim your childhood!
The newly-opened Wintergreen Arts Center, located in the Aroostook Centre Mall, is offering a Saturday Open Studio called “Cinema, Cereal and Slippers.”
On April 14 from 9 a.m. to noon, all are invited to attend the viewing of the new “Charlotte’s Web” on the Art Center’s big movie screen. After the movie, everyone is invited to join in an artistic project creating their own webs, just like Charlotte. Cereal, donuts, and drinks will be available during the movie. The Center urges attendees to wear their pajamas and bring pillows, blankets, and stuffed animals.
“Anything that will make your child feel comfortable while they watch the show,” said Becky York, manager of the Arts Center.
Saturdays after that, the Wintergreen Arts Center will host themed Open Studio, a time when people can experiment and dabble in the arts at their leisure.
General admission will be $5 for members, $3 for non-members. A one-year membership can be purchased on Saturday during Open Studio events. Adult memberships are $40, children under 12 are $30, students $35 (with current student ID), senior (62 years and older) $25, dual seniors $40 (two membership cards).
Visit the Arts Center or its Web site, www.wintergreenarts.org, to find upcoming themes for Open Studio and information on memberships, classes, news, and events.
