HARLAND ‘JAKE’ JACOBS, LINNEUS – Harland ‘Jake’ Jacobs, 65, lost his battle with cancer on Tuesday, January 30, 2018, at home while surrounded by his loving family. He was born on December 15, 1952, in Medway, the son of Clifford and Guila (Caswell) Jacobs.
Jake grew up in Medway. He went to work in the woods with his father when he was thirteen. Jake went to work full time when he was fifteen after the passing of his father. He eventually became a truck driver, driving many years for McGuire & Sons. On January 5, 1973, he married Marie “Dee” Henderson, and together they would raise their three daughters, Kristi, Katie, and Kelley. Jake was an avid outdoors man, and could be found hunting, fishing, camping, and four-wheeling. He enjoyed these times most when they were shared with his family and his hunting buddy, Allen Jacobs. Jake also enjoyed laughing and teasing with family and friends. He was a member and past board member of the New Limerick Baptist Church.
He is survived by his best friend and wife, Marie “Dee” Jacobs, three daughters, Kristi Jacobs, Katie Jacobs, and Kelley Dyer and her husband, Ryan, all of Linneus; four grandchildren, Gage and Grady Finnemore, and Brody and Mylee Dyer, all of Linneus. He also leaves behind three siblings, Elwin “Sutt” Jacobs of Medway, Desire Rhodes and her husband, Robert, of Lincoln, Judy Curtis of Woolrich, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Vernon Jacobs, two sisters, Ann VanDine, Barbara Jacobs, as well as his father-in-law, Harlan Henderson, and mother-in-law, Bessie Henderson.
Friends called at 12 noon on Friday, February 2, 2018, at the New Limerick Baptist Church, where a funeral service was conducted at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Ray Gough officiating. The family invited relatives and friends to a reception immediately following the service at the church fellowship hall. Interment will take place at Linneus Cemetery at a later date.
