The Enchanted Bookshop comes to life April 6-7

HOULTON, Maine — Star Bright Children’s Theatre will present “The Enchanted Bookshop” Friday, April 6, at 6 p.m. and Saturday, April 7, at 1 p.m. at Houlton Community Arts Center.

Twenty children are participating in this year’s performance, which marks the 50-year anniversary of the theatre group. Community volunteers continued the program in 1978 which had originated at Ricker College in the 1960s.

Director Gary Farnham, along with board members, will host a special Cupcake Anniversary party after the show on Friday evening.

The show depicts a struggling bookstore trying to stay open in a challenging business world. At night some of the book characters come to life worried that their world may be coming to an end. During the midst of the worry, some thieves break in. The book characters work together to help solve the crime and prevent the closing of the store.

Those participating in the show are: Lily Bergeron, Tia Burlock, Alexandra Collins, Payton Collins, Laurel Foster, Elijah Fournier, Angelica Goetsch, Sarah Howe, Samuel Kafferlin, Kaitlyn Kenney, Karyssa Kenney, Sophie Lorom, Ella McCarthy, Carissa Michaud, Travis Monteith, Colton Simoes, Calli Sylvia, Mylee Sylvia, Summer Violette, and Gemma Wells.

Tickets are $5 at the door, children three and under free.
