PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — The Star City’s 29th annual Holiday Light Parade will lend a festive glow to Main Street on Saturday, Dec. 1.

The Central Aroostook Chamber of Commerce will coordinate the event once again.

Lineup for the parade will start at 4:30 p.m. at the University of Maine at Presque Isle. The parade kicks off at 6 p.m., heading down Main Street toward Northern Light Health Center on North Street, where trophies will be awarded. Northern Light AR Gould Hospital will provide cocoa and cookies.
Along with viewing the brightly lit floats, spectators can enjoy children’s activities at the Sargent Family Community Center. Emcee Shawn Cunningham and a chamber representative will provide commentary with fun and laughter as the floats pass by the reviewing stand, and the judges will tally up the votes for the parade champions.

Entries will be judged for Best General, Best Faith Based, Best Non-Profit, Best Business and Parade Champion Float.

Chamber officials said they, along with sponsor Emera Maine, expect “a great turnout.” The parade has gained popularity not only with spectators, but with area merchants as well. Last year’s parade had over 75 entries, and the crowds seem to grow bigger each year, chamber administrative assistant Lisa Wark said.

Call Wark at the chamber office for more information at (207) 764-6561, fax (207) 764-1583 or email lwark@centralaroostookchamber.com.
Registration forms can be found on the chamber website, www.centralaroostookchamber.com. Participation in the parade is free, and participants need not be chamber members.
