HOULTON, Maine — The Region Two Career/College Fair, held Friday, Nov. 9, was deemed a huge success due to many contributing businesses, college representatives and armed services electing to come and share their expertise with Region Two and area partner school’s students.

Held at the National Guard Armory gymnasium, 20 businesses and law enforcement representatives from the Aroostook County and beyond participated. In addition, four different branches of the armed services and 16 post-secondary schools had representatives in attendance.

Juniors and sophomores from RSU 29 (Houlton), SAD 70 (Hodgdon), RSU 89 (Katahdin) RSU 50 (Southern Aroostook) and SAD 14 (East Grand) were able to have hands on experiences with several presentations and engaged in one on one conversations with the representatives from each entity.

Students who asked questions, put their names in a drawing for gift cards for each sending school.

“It was a great day and the businesses and colleges were impressed with the level of conversations students had with them,” explained Robert “Bo” Zabierek, academic instructor at Region Two and SkillsUSA chapter Advisor. “A huge thank you goes out from the Region Two’s MELMAC Aspiration’s Initiative Team to all the people who helped.  We will look forward to next year’s College/Career Fair to be held again next fall at the Armory for continued record turnout.”
