Music Fest hopes to draw crowd

Mystic Acres Campground in Oxbow Plantation will once again be the site of the Oxbow Music Fest. Hosted by Bernard Ayotte, the fest is scheduled to take place Saturday, July 21. The music will begin at 10 a.m. and will play until the last musician is standing!

The featured group will be the local favorite, Aroostook Blue Grass, along with some great local talent. There will be an “open mike” and all attendees are welcomed and encouraged to join in on the jams.

Concessions such as hamburgers and hot dogs, french fries and various sweet treats will be sold throughout the day. The event itself is free of charge, but if you plan to camp, there will be a fee. Camping for the event will begin Thursday. The campground offers full hook-up sites along with primitive accommodations. Please contact Mystic Acres Campground for more information at 435-8977.

The fee is $8 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under. All proceeds will go to the club for trail maintenance. The rain date will be the next day, Sunday, July 22. Spaghetti supper

and silent auction

There will be a spaghetti supper and silent auction held Sunday, July 22 at the Ashland VFW. Money raised will go toward dance recital costumes for the 29 dance students of Jessica Nason. The students need to raise approximately $2,500 for their costumes.

Supper will be served from 5-6 p.m. The menu will consist of spaghetti with either marinara or alfredo sauce, meatballs or grilled chicken and garlic bread. Tickets are $8 and children under six eat free.

The auction will be from 5:30-6:30 p.m. There are many great items to be auctioned such as 10 bags of pellets, two “racing inspired” hassocks (foot stool/ottoman), jewelry from Sally Bateau, table runners by Marilyn Butler, Scentsy items and 18 holes of golf at the Portage Lake Golf Course.

Nason is still accepting auction items for those interested in helping her students achieve their costume goal. These young students are very excited about their upcoming recital and have been working really hard. Please come out to support them. For more information, contact Nason by e-mailing heelsforthesould@gmail.com.
