PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — The staff at the University of Maine at Presque Isle’s Gentile Hall are encouraging everyone to “fall into fitness” as they celebrate Wellness Week between Monday and Thursday, Sept. 23 and 26.

Campus and community members of all ages are invited to take part in fun activities focused on healthy living. All events are free and open to the public.

The week of wellness is being led by Keli Marston, UMPI’s Fitness and Wellness Coordinator. Marston explained that the Gentile Hall staff wanted to do a health and activity-focused event at the beginning of the academic year that celebrates fresh starts and well-being.

The fun begins on Monday, Sept, 23, when Marston offers coffee, treats, and a free orientation to all the strength machines in the fitness center from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. From 12 to 12:45 p.m., Marston will lead a free fusion training class in Gentile Hall. She will lead a free fit camp that evening, from 5 to 5:45 p.m. in Gentile Hall.

On Tuesday, Sept. 24, Nancy Roble will offer free blood pressure screenings in Gentile Hall from 9 to 10:30 a.m., which counts for employees toward Level 2 status in MotivateMe!. Marston will then lead a free Circuit Training class from 12 to 12:45 p.m. in Gentile Hall.

Activities continue on Wednesday, Sept. 25, with free recipes, treats, and protein supplements from Andrew Bouchard at Gentile Hall from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Marston will offer a free Fit Camp from 5 to 5:45 p.m. in Gentile Hall.

To cap off the celebration, Marston will lead one last free fitness session, a Fusion training class from 12 to 12:45 p.m. in Gentile Hall.

“We’re really excited about our Week of Wellness, and we encourage everyone to come and learn about everything our health and wellness facility has to offer for your fitness needs,” Marston said.
