Distracted driving deemed a factor in Westfield vehicle crash

WESTFIELD, Maine — A vehicle crash in Westfield on Friday sent one person to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the Maine State Police.

On Jan. 8 at around 2:25 p.m., 27-year-old Joseph Pugliese of Crystal was traveling south in his 2016 Hyundai Sonata on Route 1 when he became distracted and struck the back of a 2010 Toyota Camry, driven by 75-year-old Nick Jadeja of Westfield. Jadeja had been attempting to make a turn when the crash occurred.

Jadeja suffered a non-life-threatening head injury and was taken by ambulance to Northern Light A.R. Gould Hospital. 

Pugliese and Jadeja’s passenger, 54-year-old Chetna Solanki, were not injured. 

The drivers of both vehicles were wearing seatbelts. The vehicles suffered substantial damage.
