HOULTON, Maine — A Presque Isle man charged with burglary of the Braden Theater last August and facing several other charges after evading police was one of the 60 indictments an Aroostook County Grand Jury handed up in November 2020.
Stephen M. Desmond, 36, was charged with two counts of domestic violence assault; two counts of obstruction; three counts of violating conditions of release; two counts of criminal mischief; one count of theft and one count of criminal threat of domestic violence. Desmond also faced an additional indictment of tampering with the victim and two additional counts of violating conditions of his release.
The indictments come after Desmond was sought by Presque Isle police after reports of a burglary of the Braden Theater in the city, which had been closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Desmond allegedly stole several items from the theater, including electronic items, candy, energy drinks and Canadian dollars.
Police had quickly identified Desmond on security camera footage due to Desmond having prior run-ins with law enforcement.
