MARS HILL, Maine — A 33-year old man was arrested Saturday by Maine State Police after he allegedly stole a vehicle, battered his own pickup with it and later locked himself in his truck, forcing police to break a window to remove him.
State troopers charged Tony Dubuc, 33, of Westfield with refusing to submit to arrest, operating after habitual offender revocation, aggravated criminal mischief, unauthorized use of property and violating condition of release in an incident that began about 9 a.m. in Mars Hill, police said.
A Mars Hill resident reported Dubuc had parked his truck and was acting strangely, running up and down and knocking on her door. Dubuc allegedly entered the resident’s Jeep Grand Cherokee and rammed it into his own vehicle several times. He then returned to his own vehicle, where he locked himself in when state troopers arrived, police said.
After Dubuc refused orders to get out of the vehicle, troopers broke the window of the truck and forcibly removed him from the vehicle. After some resistance, Dubuc was eventually taken into custody.
State police also discovered that Dubuc was out on bail and had violated two conditions of his release, having committed criminal conduct and operating a motor vehicle.
Dubuc was taken to Houlton Regional Hospital for a medical evaluation and then transported to Kennebec County Jail.
The Grand Cherokee was heavily damaged, police said. They did not say how much damage was done to Dubuc’s truck.
His case will be handled in the Presque Isle District Court at a date to be determined.
