Art and music on Main Street again

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine – Local artist and musician Carol Ayoob has recently opened her art exhibit at Crystal Compass Books. An open-mic reception is scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday, September 14, at the bookstore, located at 422 Main St., Presque Isle.     Her exhibit, “putting junk by,” is a collection of assemblages that are “social, spiritual and psychological concoctions” of herself.
Said Ayoob, “I liken the pieces of this show to a shelf of honorable jars of relish or jam … processed fruits of my labor; a harvest of the junk of seasons.”
Best known as the owner/operator of Full Circle Stage and Studio, now on McDonald Road in Castle Hill, Ayoob has recently built a raku kiln and will be offering classes. Additionally, Ayoob teaches workshops in rag rug making and found art at Wintergreen Arts Center.
Ayoob is a fine arts major from the University of Maine at Presque Isle and is the cultural affairs director there.
Anyone interested in classes or private lessons may contact Ayoob at 768-5903 or carob17@hotmail.com.
