The motorcycle season may be pretty much over until spring, but some people never really stop thinking about riding. That’s why a Maine motorcycle school is looking for trainers.
LORE Motorcycle Education, the largest riding school in Maine, operates in Presque Isle, Lisbon and Biddeford. The 2021 season proved to be a banner year for new riders.
“This last season, over 1,200 future riders gained valuable lessons about motorcycling through our Motorcycle Safety Foundation curriculum at our three locations,” said owner and instructor John Reeves.
“We serve future riders from Fort Kent to Kittery. You may have seen us at the Aroostook Centre Mall with our bus and bikes, working with potential riders,” Reeves said.
Reeves, a former Presque Isle High School band director, is one of 14 rider coaches/instructors at the school.
To become a coach and trainer, candidates must be 21 years or older, have had a motorcycle endorsement (license) for at least two years and have a clean criminal record. There are 60 hours of training, including peer teaching, practice riding exercises, Maine laws and rules, and evaluating students.
