ASHLAND — Police have charged the driver of a vehicle involved in an accident Nov. 6 on Route 11 that claimed the life of an Ashland man. Alcohol was determined to be a factor in the crash.
“Charges have been made in connection with the death of Joey Clark, 34, of Ashland. Myles Bolstridge, 21, of the Ashland area, has been summonsed on two counts of criminal OUI — one involving bodily injury and one for Clark’s death. Bolstridge has also been charged with manslaughter,” said Sgt. Jarad Carney, of the Ashland Police Department.
Clark was one of five passengers in an F250 pickup being driven by Bolstridge. The accident occurred shortly before 11 p.m., approximately three miles south of downtown Ashland. Police investigating the accident determined Bolstridge was traveling north, lost control of his truck, overcorrected, went off the road and struck a utility pole. The vehicle came to rest 100 feet in the woods.
Carney said Bolstridge and his passengers were transported to The Aroostook Medical Center by Crown Ambulance and the Ashland Ambulance Service for treatment of their injuries.
“Other passengers in the vehicle included UMPI students 20-year-old Jessica Campbell and 20-year-old Taylor Cochran, and Ashland-area residents 21-year-old Royce McDonald and 21-year-old Cote Levesque who was seriously injured but appears to be doing better. Maine State Police provided assistance, as did the Ashland Fire and Ambulance Service and Crown. All were transported to TAMC, with Bolstridge and Campbell being transported to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor,” said Carney.
“Campbell underwent treatment for a broken back and a collapsed lung. She seems to be doing better now,” said Carney.
The 2005 Ford pick-up truck, which was registered to Bolstridge, was totaled.
Chief Cyr Martin, of the APD, confirmed the charges.
“Bolstridge was summonsed on three offenses: criminal OUI causing death, criminal OUI causing injury and manslaughter. He’ll be arraigned Feb. 18 in Caribou Superior Court,” said Martin.
