PRESQUE ISLE, Maine – Northern Maine Community College is pleased to announce Nicole Cote as the new director of marketing and communications, scheduled to begin on Monday, Aug. 29. Cote brings leadership experience working with nonprofits, local governments, the U.S. military, and adult education.
“We’re very excited to welcome Nicole to the NMCC team,” said President Timothy Crowley. “Nicole’s blend of leadership experience, marketing skills, and community relations provides a balance that will support the College’s ongoing efforts to grow the number of trained, educated professionals in our community. Nicole understands the importance of this work, and she’s a great credit to our campus and community.”
A native of Caribou, Cote is an alumna of NMCC, formerly Northern Maine Technical College, having earned an associate’s degree in legal administration. After graduation, Cote married her high school sweetheart, Ryan J. Cote, and followed his career as an airman for the United States Air Force. Nicole continued her education, earning her bachelor’s degree from Bellevue University in Nebraska in marketing management.
“I’ve always appreciated the skills and strategy involved in marketing,” Cote explained. “While I’ve held different roles, communications and relationship-building have always been at the heart of my work. I’m excited to bring my experience to NMCC.”
Due to being stationed in different geographies during her husband’s career, Cote held various marketing and business positions. In Biloxi, Mississippi, Cote worked as the marketing director for the 81st Services Division at Keesler Air Force Base. After the arrival of their second child, the Cotes returned home to Caribou to raise their family in the community they both knew as home.
Cote accepted a role in education support at Loring Job Corps Center in 2007 and over the next 15 years worked her way to become the Deputy Center Director, overseeing various center operations including direct oversight of departments within enrollment services, administrative services, social development, and the health and wellness center.
Nicole lives in Caribou with her husband and two daughters. She has served as a Caribou city council member, deputy mayor, member of the Caribou Rotary, and president of the Northern Maine Figure Skating Club.
