PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — The annual Elks Soccer Shoot will be held Sunday, Sept. 25, at the University of Maine at Presque Isle field located behind Gentile Hall.

Registration will begin at 9 a.m. and the competition will start at 10 a.m.

The event, sponsored by Presque Isle Elks Lodge 1954, is free to all participants. Age divisions are: under 8, 8-9, 10-11 and 12-13. There are separate divisions for girls and boys.

“Parents, grandparents and friends of the competitors are encouraged to attend this exciting youth event,” said Elks Soccer Shoot Director Kevin Sjoberg.

Trophies will be awarded to winners and runners-up in all divisions.

The winners at the lodge shoot will advance to the Maine Elks Northern District Soccer Shoot, to be held in Bangor at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 9. State and regional competitions will follow later in the fall.

Emily Collins of Mapleton won the national championship in her age division last year.

Grilled hot dogs, drinks and chips will be served by the Elks to all contestants and spectators, free of charge.
