Colligan, Ayotte win events

    Brewer and Old Town were the sites of a couple of recent track and field meets featuring local teams.
In a meet that was originally scheduled Saturday but postponed due to rain, Presque Isle made the trip to Brewer Monday.
The Wildcat girls scored 52 points and were led by a one-two finish by Emily Colligan and Mandy Graham in the 3,200-meter run. Colligan won the event in 13:54.64 and Graham was next in 13:54.66.
Regan Nelson was second in the shot put with a mark of 30 feet, 6 inches. Abbie Estey was sixth with a mark of 26 feet, 11 inches. Nelson was also fifth in the javelin with a throw of 79-10.
Jacqueline Lambert took fourth in the high jump by clearing 3 feet, 11 inches. Grace Player placed sixth, also at 3-11.
PI’s top performance in the relays came in the 4×800 as Colligan, Alyssa Sweeney, Jessica Baldwin and Graham ran to a second-place finish in 11:41.93.
The Wildcat boys tallied 22 points. Mitchell Ayotte won the long jump with a mark of 18 feet, 8.5 inches. The relay teams accounted for nine more points, while in the 3,200-meter run, Trevor Levesque was fifth in 11:04.71 and Dustin Drabek sixth in 11:17.38.
At Old Town Friday, the Fort Fairfield girls scored 15 points. Teresa Maynard and Rebecca Theriault both placed in the triple jump, with Maynard at 30 feet, 1-3/4 inches for fourth place and Theriault at 28 feet, 5-1/2 inches for fifth. Maynard also was third in the high jump at 4 feet, 4 inches.
The Tiger boys scored 54 points on the afternoon. Caleb Daigle ended up winning the 400-meter dash in 55.23 seconds, captured the discus with a mark of 117 feet, 1 inch and took third in the 100-meter dash in 12.14 seconds. In the 4×800 relay, Matt Guimond, Johnny Theriault, Steven Wentworth and Brandon York recorded a time of 10:24.68, good for fourth place.
Noah Bernard was second in the high jump, clearing 5 feet, 6 inches. He was also sixth in the discus at 91-10. Brandon York was fifth in the shot put with a mark of 33 feet, 4-1/2 inches.
The Aroostook League Championships are set for Friday afternoon in Caribou, with field events beginning at 4:30 p.m. and track events at 5 p.m.
