FF police arrest Presque Isle man in connection with alleged burglary

FORT FAIRFIELD, Maine — One man has been arrested and another remains at large following an alleged burglary in Fort Fairfield.

Police arrested 37-year-old Michael Deveau of Presque Isle on May 2 for allegedly stealing $10,000 in tools from a storage unit on the Cheney Grove Road.

Deveau’s arrest followed an investigation into the theft that occurred April 28, said Fort Fairfield Police Chief Matthew Cummings. Police apprehended Deveau at his home on Blake Street in Presque Isle after finding the stolen tools there.

Deveau has been charged with burglary and theft by unauthorized taking or transfer. He was released on $10,000 bail and will appear at Presque Isle Unified Court July 12.

Police are still searching for 30-year-old Richard “Richie” Gilman of Presque Isle and Millinocket, whom they believe is connected to the thefts.
