This coming Saturday evening, Nov. 23, the West Chapman Advent Christian Church will hold their annual fundraiser harvest dinner at 5 p.m.
The menu will include turkey, ham, mashed potato, carrots, squash, homemade rolls, drinks and homemade pies for dessert. All funds collected that evening will go directly to their urgent building needs.
Due to an earlier conflict this month. The Chapman Ridge Runners Snowmobile Club will hold its members potluck at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 23.
Members are encouraged to come and learn about the changes and improvements on the trails. All members are welcome to attend and bring a tasty dish to add to the serving table. For more information, call Sue Maynard at 764-1236.
Auction is a success
The Mapleton Daze Committee sends a huge thank you to everyone who participated in their online auction. The auction is the biggest fundraiser the committee does to fund the annual Mapleton Daze celebration in the summer.

Ma Dudley remembered
The Northeastland Hotel and the Mark and Emily Turner Library in Presque Isle hosted a celebration honoring famed Mapleton cook “Ma” Dudley.
An evening of remembering Ma Dudley and her famous restaurant came alive with some her cherished recipes from the book “Ma Dudley’s Secrets of the Dudley Homestead.” Included were caramel rolls, pecan hermits and coconut macaroons.
Greeting guests was Katelyn White as Ma Dudley, who also presided over the table of assembled baked specialties made with recipes from the cookbook.
Retired Pastor Ken Phelps recounted a typical evening dinner experience at Ma Dudley’s. Guests called and placed a reservation with their dinner order, depending on what was being cooked that day. Dinner at 6 would start within about 20 minutes, consisting of several courses, and ending around 10 or 11 p.m., depending on whether you ordered dessert.
The lengthy dinner experience occurred because the meal was prepared, cooked and served after the guests arrived, served fresh from stove to tables. The relaxed home atmosphere and family-style food service allowed for lots of conversation.
Following Phelps’ talk, guests shared their experiences of dining at Ma Dudley’s. Some even remembered that she started cooking for the Mapleton Lions Club dinner meetings in 1963, which led to her opening her home restaurant the following year.

Hunters breakfast
The second annual Mapleton Daze hunters breakfast was a success, drawing people for a meal of eggs, fried potatoes, sausage, bacon, pancakes, fresh fruit and muffins.
A crowd of families and friends came to have breakfast out while supporting Mapleton Daze 2025.

Supper draws a crowd
The State Road Advent Christian Church held their annual harvest supper on Nov. 2. The church’s multipurpose fellowship hall was filled almost to capacity.
There was no charge for the dinner but donations were accepted on behalf of Matt Dionne and family, for whom the church membership has been praying since last November when he was struck by a vehicle while walking home.
According to Pastor Josh Tate, the church was very happy with the supper attendance and support for the Dione Family.
