Northern Maine Moose Lacrosse has announced the recruitment of Colton Simoes, a talented “face off, get off” lacrosse player, to join the Bridgton Academy Wolverines for his senior year.
Simoes committed to Bridgton Academy last week, marking a new chapter in his athletic and academic journey.
“I wasn’t expecting to make this decision so close to the start of the school year. But after touring the campus, meeting the dedicated staff, and connecting with the coaching team, the choice was clear. The dean even took time away from her family vacation to meet me, which speaks volumes about the commitment of Bridgton’s staff,” Simoes said.
“They’ve made this transition seamless for me and my family. Leaving Greater Houlton Christian Academy and the Moose lacrosse team is bittersweet, but their support has been truly humbling,” he added.
Bridgton Academy’s lacrosse program is renowned for providing student-athletes with elite-level competition and unparalleled exposure to college recruiters, preparing them to excel at the next level. On the field, players face some of the nation’s top talent, building discipline, strength and confidence.
Off the field, Bridgton’s one-year postgraduate program bridges the gap between high school and college with rigorous academics, individualized support, and opportunities for college credit, ensuring young men are ready for the challenges of higher education and athletics.
Simoes credits the Northern Maine Moose lacrosse program for preparing him for this opportunity.
“Playing alongside driven teammates like Isaiah Ervin, now at UMaine for football, and Megan Peters, who plays for Bates women’s lacrosse, pushed me to elevate my game. I’m incredibly grateful to Ken Ervin for founding the Moose program, to the entire Moose family for their unwavering support, and to all the coaches who volunteered their time,” Simoes said, offering special thanks to Coach John Verno for guiding him through this process with his expertise.
“I’m excited for what lies ahead at Bridgton Academy and deeply thankful for this opportunity,” he said.
