At the end of the regular season, Mapleton Little League plays a series of playoff games to determine the league champion that lead to the championship game. This year the championship game featured the Buck Farms team playing the Mapleton Oil team.
The game proved to be high on solid pitching and defensive play. The game was tied with a score of 1-1 and in the bottom of the last inning Buck Farms was able to win with an on-base player driven with a single hit.
Following the championship game, a home run derby was held. Players competed in a 10-out home run hitting contest. Each contestant had the opportunity to hit home runs until they make 10 outs. All hits that failed to go over the outfield fence were counted as outs.

This year’s home run king was Holden Clark, who hit 19 home runs in the contest.
After presenting the Home Run King trophy to Holden, recreation director Jake Graham honored the league’s long time custom of presenting home balls to all of the players who homered during the regular season. Homer hitters for the season included Collin Robertson, Holden Clark, Caleb Dionne, Madden Hebert, Lucas Chapman and Braxton Doughty.

While the home run contest was underway, the Mapleton Recreation Department held its annual family potluck picnic for players and their families. The Mapleton Lions Club hosted the picnic by grilling red and brown hot dogs and providing the drinks.
The Club has supported the Mapleton Little League for nearly 50 years, along with the community pool and the other youth recreation activities of the Mapleton-Castle Hill-Chapman Recreation Program. Members enjoy seeing the success and enjoyment of community’s youth in all of the program’s activities.
While the Mapleton Little League is the largest program within the recreation department, there are many youth who participate in the swimming, arts and crafts, soccer and tennis activities over the summer.
A special fun day was held for the morning kids at the pool, where certificates of participation were awarded.
