PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Community-based programming at Central Aroostook Association continues to grow at an exciting pace, offering a wide variety of free groups, activities and events designed to bring individuals and families together while supporting growth, learning and connection across all ages.
Central Aroostook Association regularly hosts programs and events at 29 Lombard St. in Presque Isle, as well as at locations throughout the community. All community-based events are free of charge, an adult must attend with any participating child, ensuring a safe, supportive and engaging environment for everyone involved.
Following a very busy holiday season filled with activities such as holiday karaoke, cookie decorating, movies, basketball, parties, crafts and more, Central Aroostook Association is heading full speed into the new year. Entering the new year, they are currently offering sensory play groups for toddlers, providing hands on, developmentally supportive activities in a welcoming setting. The organization also offers social emotional learning groups for children of all ages, focused on building confidence, coping skills and positive peer relationships. Additional programming includes acting and drama groups, cooking activities and other skill building and recreational opportunities that encourage creativity, teamwork and independence.
In addition to ongoing groups, Central Aroostook Association hosts a variety of stand alone community events throughout the year. These include a wildly popular Haunted House and Trunk or Treat, a community Thanksgiving dinner, numerous Christmas and holiday celebrations and new this year a Winter dance in January and a Cinco de Mayo celebration in May, along with many other special events that bring the community together in meaningful ways.
Beyond community programming, Central Aroostook Association provides a broad range of services supporting individuals and families across Aroostook County. These services include a Special Purpose Private School serving students countywide in grades K–12, case management services, shared living, home support services, adult programming, children’s support programs, an adult residential home and additional services tailored to meet individual needs.
With more than 60 years of service to individuals and families in the community, Central Aroostook Association continues to evolve and expand in response to the growing needs of those it serves.
