UMPI lecture, University Day

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — The University of Maine at Presque Isle will host Kyle Poissonnier, founder of Catalyst for Change Wear, as its next speaker in the Libra Distinguished Lecture Series on Tuesday, April 14 at 7 p.m. in the Campus Center’s Multi-Purpose Room and via Zoom.

Poissonnier will discuss his journey, from growing up in Smithfield to launching a hugely successful Maine-based clothing company. CFC Wear uses its clothing to raise funds for various charities and causes with a heavy emphasis on mental health and suicide prevention and awareness, raising more than $100,000 since 2016.

This talk is free, open to the public, and serves as the University Day keynote address. A full day of student presentations and activities will follow on Wednesday, April 15, starting at 9:15 a.m. which the community is invited to attend. The University of Maine at Presque Isle will host its 23rd annual University Day in mid-April, celebrating the academic research, scholarly work, and community service being done by students in all disciplines. Activities kick off April 14 with poster presentations from 5:30-6:45 p.m. followed by the keynote address from Poissonnier. Both activities take place in the Campus Center’s Multi-Purpose Room.

The next day, University Day continues with student presentations in Folsom/Pullen Hall on April 15 starting at 9:15 a.m. These events are free and open to the public.
