Northern Light AR Gould Hospital is now offering orthopedics appointments in Houlton every Friday. The hospital will be renting clinical space at the Katahdin Valley Health Center on Bangor Street.
“Our goal is to work collaboratively whenever we can, and we had patients and providers from the Houlton area asking for a presence for orthopedics because it is hard to travel post orthopedic surgery,” Daryl Boucher, vice president of operations AR Gould, said. “The expansion of our orthopedic services to the southern Aroostook area gives patients access to our incredibly talented orthopedic team closer to home.”
Services to be provided at this Houlton clinic will include new patient appointments, follow-up appointments, acceptance of new referrals, injections and cast and splint applications. They will be seeing patients with musculoskeletal complaints, including shoulder, elbow, wrist, hand, hip, knee and foot/ankle.
“Our team is pleased to be expanding our services to Houlton,” Patrick Fallon, MD, one of the orthopedic surgeons who will be seeing patients in Houlton, said. “The residents in that region haven’t had access to these kinds of services locally for a while now, so we feel this new option for care will be beneficial for Houlton and the surrounding community by limiting travel to receive services at other facilities.”
“We will continue to find ways to work collaboratively with the current services offered in southern Aroostook and anticipate bringing more needed services to the region in the future,” Boucher said.
Orthopedic appointments in Houlton will be managed through the Northern Light Orthopedics office in Presque Isle, which can be reached at 207-764-3734.
