Floyd, 73, loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away Saturday evening, November 3, 2007, at St. James Mercy Hospital in Hornell, following a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Barnesville, New Brunswick, Canada on April 6, 1934, he was the first son of the late Frederick and Roberta Carson Floyd. On July 6, 1957 he was married at the First Presbyterian Church of Arkport to the former Irene Phelps, who survives.
A resident of Arkport since 1949, Milt was previously employed by several farmers in the Arkport area, for the Ford Motor Co. in Buffalo, the former Arkport Motors in Arkport and for Asplundt Tree Experts. He retired as a mechanic and wrecker operator for Main Tire Exchange in Dansville after 33 years of dedicated service.
Milt was a lifetime member and a former chief of the Arkport Fire Department, a former member of the Arkport Ambulance Corps and the Arkport Exchange Club. For 20 years he served as a member of the Arkport Village Board and he also attended the First Presbyterian Church of Arkport.
His family includes his wife of 50 years, Irene; his two daughters, Kimberly (Jeremy Molitoris) Floyd of Pittsburgh, Pa. and Kelly Floyd of Buffalo; his two grandchildren, Justin and Jessica Molitoris; his five sisters, Maxine Cone, Freda (Roger) Casey, Barbara (Dale) Henderson and Jeannie (Michael) Prosser all of Houlton, Maine and Donna (Tony) Victory of Phoenix, AZ; his brother, Wayne (Cindy) Floyd of Houlton, Maine; and his many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours were from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc., 285 Main St., Hornell, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, with the Rev. Steven Jewell officiating. Private committal services for his family will follow at the Arkport Cemetery.
