ISLAND FALLS – Helen B. Collier, 80, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away March 6, 2008, at a local hospital after a courageous battle with lung cancer. She was born August 5, 1927, in Millinocket, the daughter of Jerome and Elizabeth (Ayotte) Bishop.
She attended St. Agnes Catholic Church in Island Falls. Helen enjoyed reading, crocheting, watching Lawrence Welk , cooking, and the Boston Red Sox. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by and will be sadly missed by her children, Jerome O. Collier and his wife Bonnie of Oakfield, David E. Collier and his wife Deborah of Dyer Brook, Marvin B. Collier and his wife Cindy of Oakfield, and Julie A. Sabatis and her husband Douglas of Houlton; grandchildren, Lucas D. McMannus of Mattawamkeag, Toby J. Collier and special friend Jessica Crane of North Creek, N Y, Todd M. Collier and
his wife Janelle of Oakfield, Mary Collier and her fiancé Michael Clark of Eddington, David E. Collier II of Dyer Brook, Erica Gates and her husband Ryan of Waldoboro, Chelsea Collier of Oakfield, Danielle, Molly, Shelby and Joseph Sabatis of Houlton; special great-grandchild Ethan J. Collier of Oakfield; brother, Jerome Bishop and wife Joan of Zephyrhills, FL; sister Anna Dishon of E. Millinocket; and several nieces and nephews. She will be remembered by special friends Philip Brannen, Bette Shields, Florence Grant, and Lynda Williams. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 33 years, Olin G. Collier Jr.; daughter Deborah L. McMannus; her parents, Jerome and Elizabeth; sisters, Ellen Bishop, Hazel Bishop, and Catherine McGowan; and brother, Maurice Bishop.
Family and friends called at Bowers Funeral Home, Sherman Street, Island Falls on Sunday, March 9, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Island Falls, Maine, at 10 am Monday, March 10, 2008. Internment will be in spring at the Oakfield Cemetery.
