“Beep! Beep! Beep!” my alarm clock rang. I sat up in bed and screamed! Right before me was Elmo from Sesame Street! I could not believe my eyes.
“Um, hi,” I said in disbelief.
“Hola!” he said.
“Well,” I said, “there goes my shopping plans!”
“Oooh! Elmo wants to go shopping!” he said. So I got ready. He didn’t know I could dress myself so he insisted on showing me how. He even sang a song to show me how long to brush my teeth. It seemed cool when I was three, but not now!
I hid Elmo in my bag, and asked my mom to drive me to the mall. She said yes, so,on we went. As we entered the mall, Elmo sawsomething that caught his eye. Then he jumped out of my bag and ran to it. “Oh, brother,” I said when I saw what it was. We were in a store that supplied Sesame Street stuffed animals!
“Hola, everybody!” he said. I couldn’t help giggling. He waved to his friends, but was confused when they wouldn’t wave back. He thought they must be mad at him. He became very upset until I explained to him that they were stuffed animals and couldn’t wave back. Then I realized I was talking to a puppet myself! I must be losing it!
After that ordeal, we decided to walk home, I didn’t have much money to buy anything anyway. We sang a few songs on our way. I thought I’d forgotten those songs from my early childhood, but they came right back to me.
So when we got home, we went upstairs to my room. I was actually enjoying spending time with my old friend. Who knew an eleven-year-old could have such fun with a puppet! My friends and family wouldn’t believe me if I told them! Suddenly, my television started to glow. “Elmo has to go home now,” he said. I figured it must be time for him to feed his goldfish, Dorothy.
“I had fun with you,” I told him. So he jumped into the screen.
“Wow,” I thought. “I just spent the whole day with Elmo. That’s just weird.” I really would miss that red ball of fur.
