Botting recovering in Boston
The mother of Allison Botting said her 11-year-old daughter, who was severely injured during a storm June 2 in Stacyville, is “doing well. She’s holding on and wants to come home. Skin grafts have started and her big toe was amputated.”
Nicole Botting was in Stacyville to support her older daughter, Ashley Paradis, as she graduated from Katahdin High School last Saturday. Botting said she was heading back to Boston on Sunday to be with Allison.
Both daughters were injured along with a family friend when extreme weather ripped across Aroostook and Penobscot counties. The storm pulled down a tree and a power line. All three were treated for injuries, locally. But, Botting, the most seriously injured, was later transported to Shriner’s Hospital for Children in Boston due to the nature of  burns to her body.
Paradis said her sister has “a good spirit going for her.” “She’s determined to get better and get out of the hospital and come home. I just want her to know I want her to get better soon and I miss her,” added Paradis.
Area residents have supported several fundraisers and more are planned to help the family with travel expenses and related costs to Allison’s care not covered by Shriner’s Hospital. Donations can be made payable to the Botting family and sent to the town office in Stacyville, PO Box 116 Stacyville, ME 04777.

I-95 accident claims woman from NB
A motor vehicle accident last Thursday morning about 11:30 a.m. on I-95 in the town of Crystal later claimed the life of a Canadian woman.
Elizabeth Snow, 51, of New Denmark, NB was the sole occupant of a 2005 Dodge Caravan, according  to state police who reported that she was transported to Millinocket Regional Hospital for multiple life threatening injuries. Snow was then transferred to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor via Life Flight where she died shortly after her arrival there.
Trooper Tim Saucier responded to the single-vehicle crash near the Sherman town line after callers reported a female lying in the roadway. Based on evidence at the scene, police reported that Snow was traveling south and crossed the rumble strip into the median area, then attempted to correct her operation but struck a guardrail with the left side of the vehicle, ripping off the driver’s door and left rear sliding door.
Also according to the police report, Snow was ejected and landed in the passing lane of the interstate as her van continued to travel across the highway, striking the guardrail and eventually landing in the median strip.
Deputy Peter Stone of the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office and emergency teams from Island Falls, Oakfield and Patten assisted state police.
