The annual meeting of Maine Mutual Group was held on April 13 at the home office of the company in Presque Isle. Larry M. Shaw, president and chief executive officer, announced — after a vote by policyholders present and by proxy — that the following directors were elected to a new three-year term: Tom E. Gagnon; Donald W. Perkins, Jr.; and Jon J. Prescott. Roger J. Roy, executive vice president and chief operating officer, reported the financial results of 2010 to the policyholders present.
At a board meeting following the annual meeting, John H. Cashwell III, of Bangor, was elected as chairman of the board. Cashwell has served on the MMG Board of Directors for 14 years. Cashwell, the previous vice-chairman, replaces Tom E. Gagnon of Presque Isle, whose term as chairman has expired. Gagnon served as chairman of the board for six years. He has served as a director for 19 years and will continue to serve in that capacity. Michael D. MacPherson of Presque Isle was elected as vice-chairman of the board. MacPherson has served on the MMG Board of Directors for 14 years.
In addition to Cashwell and MacPherson, currently serving on the Board of Directors are: Samuel W. Collins, Caribou; Harold A. Dakin, Londonderry, N.H.; Tom E Gagnon, Presque Isle; Maine state Sen. Dawn Hill, Esq., Cape Neddick; Jay Y. McCrum, Mars Hill; Donald W. Perkins, Jr., Westbrook; Jon J. Prescott, Island Falls; Larry M. Shaw, CPCU, president and CEO, Presque Isle; and Lisa M. Ventriss, South Burlington, Vt. George H. Ellis of Scarborough serves as an honorary director.
