History-making moment

An unusual father-son story of particular interest to Houlton emanated from the august portals of the Maine Supreme Court in early 1940 when Chief Justice Charles P. Barnes, center, admitted to the bar his youngest son, Francis, left, on motion of another son, George. It was believed to be the first occurrence of its kind in the history of Maine.
