Local ministers plan Ecumenical Thanksgiving Service

The Ecumenical Thanksgiving Service to be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Tuesday, Nov. 24 at 7 p.m.,will feature various church projects that serve those in need in the southern Aroostook community.

Rev. Dennis Ashley will sing “Why Have You Chosen Me” during the offering, which will benefit the Salvation Army Fuel Fund and the Southern Aroostook Ministerial Associaiton Emergency Fund.

Many baskets placed at the door to receive canned goods and other staples will provide the opportunity for those who attend the service  to help our neighbors  through Houlton’s food pantries.

All are invited to this community prayer event as we count our many blessings. Food and fellowship in the Parish Center will follow the service .

Responding to Jesus’ call to love one another, SAMA is composed of a group of area clergy who meet monthly, plan ecumenical services, and focus on how best to serve the spiritual and material needs of the community.

Participating churches are:  First Baptist, First Congregational, Good Shepherd Episcopal, Church on the Hill/Military Street Baptist, Quaker Worship Group, St. Mary’s Catholic, United Methodist (Houlton and Hodgdon), and Unitarian Universalist.

If your church would like to be involved, please contact Rev. Randall Burns at 532-2783 ext. 108.
