Members of the Caribou Public Library’s Teen Advisory Group along with Mona Michaud, young adult librarian, spent time last week creating handcrafted decorations to be placed in both the young adult area of the library and the children’s room. Taking part in the crafty afternoon events were, from left: Taylor Hartley, Sabina St. Peter, Michaud, Sarah McQuade and Emily Staples.

In connection with last week’s Earth Day, the group learned about the history of Earth Day and centered their craft talents around making hand-painted or decorated earth scenes on old CD discs which will be hung in the toung adult area of the library.
With the theme of metamophosis, the group also crafted origami bugs to be used in the children’s room. With the young children’s reading programs in the near future centering around how insects can change into to other creatures, Michaud will use the metamorphsis idea to help her young adult readers learn to understand how they change within themselves as they mature.
