Carla E. Skidgel, 70, died February 20, 2009 at home with her loving family by her side. She was born March 20, 1938 in Perham to the late Henry Hartsgrove and Mae (Wilcox) Skidgel.
After working in various plants in the area for many years, Carla went back to school to become a CNA so she could do the job that she loved, helping people who were sick. She worked many years for Visiting Nurses of Aroostook, going to different patients’ homes to take care of them, talk to them, and do whatever they needed done around their home. She loved meeting and making new friends.
Carla is survived by six daughters and sons-in-law, Leona and Richard French of Sabattus; Janet Morrison and her partner John Ouellette, Connie and Guy Searles, Regina and Willis Gilliam, all of Caribou; Alfreda and Danny Ouellette of Perham; Lois and Vincent Pelletier of Easton; four sons and daughters-in-law, Henry and Coralie Skidgel of New Sweden; Wayne and Sandra Skidgel of Washburn; Wendell “Bud” Skidgel of Caribou; and Sam and Janice Brown of Linneus. She also is survived by her mother Mae Skidgel, and her uncle Eldon Wilcox of Caribou; four sisters Virginia Liotonne of Connor; Sharon and Maynard Curtis of Conn.; Georgia and Buddy Grantham of Penn.; Elizabeth and Cleve Maynard of Perham; two brothers, Mayland and Pat Hartsgrove and Kendell and Jodi Skidgel of Presque Isle. She is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her loving husband Samuel F. Skidgel, her father Henry Hartsgrove, and her step-father Harley “Cobb” Skidgel.
Per her wishes, there was no calling hours. Spring interment will be at the Woodland Cemetery.
