WOODLAND – Wayne G. Conroy, 75, went home to be with the Lord on February 13, 2010 following a long illness. He was born at Caribou, August 23, 1934, the son of Glen and Pearl (Anderson) Conroy. Wayne attended schools in Perham and Caribou and also graduated from SMVTI. Wayne loved to spend time in the Maine woods hunting, trapping and fishing. He also spent many hours playing golf. He was a member of the Sportsman Inc, and the Caribou Snowmobile Club and the Caribou Masonic Lodge #170 AF&AM. Wayne worked many years as a supervisor for several food processing operations in the Caribou and Presque Isle area. Wayne was a member of the First Baptist Church of Woodland where he served as an usher and a trustee. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who will miss him every Saturday night when they get together for homemade bread and beans.
Wayne is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Barbara of Woodland; his four daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Alan St. Peter, Peggy and Kim Espling, Lori and Jimmie Thibodeau and Jill and Tom Plante all of Woodland; his son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Karen Conroy of Bloomfield, VT; a sister, Sharill Anderson of Woodland; 12 loving grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, Gilbert; a sister, Glenna and a grandson, Andrew St. Peter.
Family and friends visited with the family, Tuesday, February 16, 2010, at the First Baptist Church of Woodland from 12 noon until time of services, which were held at 1 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Woodland, with the Rev. Ron Rosser, pastor, officiating. Spring interment will take place in the Woodland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers friends who wish to contribute in memory of Wayne may do so to the First Baptist Church of Woodland memorial fund. Envelopes may be obtained at the church.
