CARIBOU – Philip Bishop, 80, husband of the late Thelma (Malenfant) Bishop, died February 12, 2010 at Presque Isle. He was born at Caribou, July 14, 1929, the son of Maxime and Mattie (Theriault) Bishop. He was educated in the Caribou school system and served with the US Army during WWII. He was a self-employed carpenter in the local area for many years. Philip was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church and was a life member of the Lister-Knowlton Post #9389 VFW.
He is survived by four sons, Philip David Bishop and his wife, Sheila of Washburn, Timothy Bishop of Caribou, Michael Bishop and his wife, Mary of Thibodeau, LA and John Bishop and his wife, Debra of Caribou; three daughters, Cheryl Jones and her husband, Mark, Gail Bragdon all of Presque Isle and Carla Frank of TX; 11 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a sister-in-law Juliett Bishop of Caribou. He was predeceased by his brothers and sisters.
Friends called at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir Street, Caribou, Tuesday, February 16, 2010 from 10:30 a.m. until time of services, with military services being held at 10:30 a.m. by the officers and members of the VFW. A funeral Mass was held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Parish of the Precious Blood Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Spring interment will take place in the Old Holy Rosary Cemetery.
