PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — A pair of Caribou baseball teams made the trip to Presque Isle Aug. 1 for the Northern Maine Community Recreation Association’s 13-15 baseball semifinals, but neither was able to pick up a victory while seeing their season come to an end.    AFSL was the northern region’s No. 1 seed and took on Rod Brewer Design of Presque Isle in one of the semifinal contests. Tyler Dombroski went six innings and surrendered just five hits and two earned runs, but was saddled for the loss as RBD prevailed, 2-1.
Dombroski walked four and struck out six during his outing.
He was the offensive leader with two singles, with teammates Michael Hunter and Dustin DeMerchant notching one each.
In the other game, No. 2 CFCU was bounced by Cushman’s of PI, 12-6. Mason Huck drilled a two-run homer in the first inning to get CFCU off to a good start. Noah Frost scored twice and Zach Wright and Connor Plourde once each. Casey McCrossin added an RBI.
Spencer McDuffie started on the mound and was handed the loss after going three innings. Frost, Riley McDuffie and Dan Randolph also did some pitching for CFCU.
RBD ended up beating Cushman’s in the Aug. 8 championship, 7-1, to earn Aroostook County bragging rights.
