Rotarians pay tribute to Miss Knight — A glowing tribute was paid to Miss Edith Knight, county anti-tuberculosis nurse, by Dr. F. W. Mann, President of the Maine Medical Society, who addressed the Houlton Rotary Club at their Wednesday meeting.

Donations make dreams come true for 12 families — For six consecutive years, Aroostook County residents have given selflessly to the Make-A-Wish playhouse project, enabling the county chapter to go from raising $3,000 in 1993 to more than $20,000 this season, which enabled them to help 12 families this year.

Rossignol beats father’s record — With a 24-point performance in Van Buren’s 52-34 win over Southern Aroostook on Monday, Jan. 20, 2014, senior Parise Rossignol became the Van Buren District High School all-time leading basketball scorer.

Organizers plan for new entry to park — Organizers of the Four Corners Park in Madawaska are reaching out to the community to assist in fundraising efforts to construct a new $10,000 arch entryway, according to park founder Joe LaChance.

Celebrates birthday — The last remaining survivor of the original settlers of New Sweden, Mrs. Agnes Clase Anderson, today celebrated her 83 birthday at her farm home in that community.
