Maine School of Science and Mathematics, the state’s first tuition-free, public, residential high school, marked this year’s Pi Day celebration (March 14) with an impressive showcase of mathematical talent as students gathered to recite the digits of Pi to remarkable lengths.
Caribou painter Steve McLellan will exhibit his creative work at the Aroostook Agency on Aging during the First Friday Art Walk on April 5 from 4:30-7 p.m. in the Artists for Aging gallery at 260 Main Street.

Still going strong — Jos. W. Gary, one of Caribou’s highly esteemed citizens, and postmaster for about 40 years, is still enjoying all his facilities, although nearing the century mark as regards years, being 94 years old.
Nutrition leaders with Aroostook Agency on Aging announced that the local Meals on Wheels program is participating in #SaveLunch – a nationwide campaign designed to rally communities around their aging neighbors and protect the essential services that enable so many to remain healthy and independent at home.

The lack of help in Aroostook County can lead to tragic outcomes, as it did for Jacob Poitraw and Jacob Wood. Both were experiencing mental health episodes when they were shot and killed by police.
A children’s garden will be set up in memory of Beth Pfeiffer and a memorial garden will be created for Rose Elmer.

The Kiwanis Club of Presque Isle recently inducted Mike Allen of Easton as its newest member. A former member of the Easton Kiwanis Club, Allen brings experience and many ideas to the group.
