A Superior Court judge has ordered the owner of a burned home at 15 Prospect St., to remove all remaining debris by July 1, 2024, or else pay for the city to remove it.

Adrian Covington appealed the Aroostook County Superior Court’s June 2022 decision to revoke his $20,000 cash bail because he had committed new crimes while out on bail.

Steve A. Plummer, 53, of Fort Fairfield received the sentencing Nov. 28 at Caribou Superior Court. He was convicted of unlawful sexual touching and domestic violence assault during a bench trial in Caribou Oct. 5 and 6.

Caribou officials appeared in court Friday and asked a judge to order John Barretto to reimburse the city for cleaning up the remains of the structure.

Susan Kochanowski, 35, was arrested in March and faces felony charges for murder and arson related to a fire that destroyed an apartment building at 7 Water St., displacing over a dozen residents and killing 30-year-old Jason Donahue.
