Curtain from demolished Grange Hall in rural Maine discovered in Texas antique store
A tapestry from the Houlton Grange, dating back to the late 1930s, was discovered at an antiques store in Texas. The item was purchased by a former Houlton resident and shipped to the community to be displayed in its downtown. Credit: Joseph Cyr / Houlton Pioneer Times
Grange Halls once provided a place for not only farmers to gather but also served as community hubs, hosting dances and many other social events to alleviate the isolation of farm life dating back to the late 1800s.
