Boys soccer squads ready for playoff action

Friday and Saturday will be busy days on the soccer pitch for those boys teams that qualified for the postseason. Preliminary playoff games are scheduled for both Friday and Saturday in The County, and for those squads fortunate enough to advance, the quarterfinals await on Wednesday, Oct. 25.

Shire girls collect 5th straight shutout

The Houlton girls soccer squad notched its fifth consecutive shutout, and seventh in the past nine games, on the soccer pitch Wednesday evening with an impressive 8-0 victory over Mattanawcook Academy.

Vikings travel to Dover-Foxcroft, Shires host MA in Wednesday’s soccer action

Wednesday will be a relatively quiet day for soccer squads with only a handful of games on tap. Today’s slate sees the Caribou boys making the trip to Dover-Foxcroft to take on the Foxcroft Academy Ponies for a 4 p.m. start, the Hodgdon boys and girls travel to Katahdin for 3:30 p.m. games, while Houlton hosts Mattanawcook Academy (5 p.m. girls/6:30 p.m. boys).

Career, college fair set for Oct. 13

Region Two-School of Applied Technology will be hosting its annual Career/College fair for seniors and juniors from Houlton, Hodgdon, Southern Aroostook, East Grand and Katahdin high schools on Friday, Oct. 13, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Army National Guard Armory building 84 Pleasant St. in Houlton

Cross country teams compete at Old Town Sectionals

Cross-country runners from Hodgdon, Houlton, Presque Isle, Greater Houlton Christian Academy, Washburn and Caribou were part of a massive 15-team race over the weekend at the annual Sectional Invitational hosted by Old Town High School.
