Shead girls edge Southern Aroostook for second straight ‘D’ North title
BANGOR, MAINE — Hopes of advancing to the state championship fell just short for the Southern Aroostook girls basketball team.
SACS (19-2) held an eight-point lead at halftime, but a veteran Shead squad came roaring back in the second half to snatch a 32-29 victory Saturday evening at the Cross Insurance Center. It marks the second straight Class D north title for Shead (19-2).
Southern Aroostook holds off Easton for berth in ‘D’ final
Top seed Southern Aroostook Community School of Dyer Brook received 12 points and nine rebounds from eighth-grader Kacy Daggett and Makaelyn Porter’s three-pointer with 3:58 left triggered a 9-3 run to close out the game as the Warriors outlasted fourth seed Easton for a 48-42 win in their Class D North semifinal.
