UMPI criminal justice course comes to Houlton

PRESQUE ISLE and HOULTON, Maine — In an effort to meet workforce development needs in southern Aroostook County, the University of Maine at Presque Isle will begin delivering its Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice in a way that allows students to complete the program entirely from UMPI’s Houlton Higher Education Center.

The University of Maine at Presque Isle men’s basketball team took on County rival University of Maine at Fort Kent on Saturday, Dec. 7. UMPI earned the win after a well fought game, 68-66 after being down early.

UMPI runners head to regionals

The University of Maine at Presque Isle will send both men’s and women’s cross country teams to the NCAA regionals in Brunswick on Saturday, Nov. 6, as the women ended in fifth place overall and the men came in seventh during Nov. 2 contests in Lyndonville, Vermont.

Owls volleyball ends season with 2 losses

The University of Maine at Presque Isle women’s volleyball team traveled on Nov. 2 to Husson University to take on North Atlantic Conference opponents Husson and Maine Maritime Academy in their last regular season matches of the year.

The dining operations at the University of Maine at Presque Isle achieved the goal of sourcing 100 percent “Gulf of Maine Responsibly Harvested” white fish, making them champions in the Gulf of Maine Research Institute seafood program.

UMPI to host fall classes for working professionals

The University of Maine at Presque Isle’s Employer U program, which focuses on providing workforce development opportunities for the region, will offer two 20-hour courses this fall as part of its American Management Association’s University certificate program.
