Belle Isle Books publishes Zuras’ fourth book
University of Maine at Presque Isle Professor of English and Creative Writing Richard Lee Zuras has a new book — his fourth — that will be released on Dec. 7. “Mining Your Past: A Creative Writing Professor’s Guide: Writing Stories, Poetry, & Song Lyrics,” published by Belle Isle Books, will be available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
UMPI sees 10 percent increase in enrollment
The University of Maine at Presque Isle is bucking many state and national enrollment trends in the wake of the pandemic, welcoming more than 1,200 students to the fall 2022 semester, or a 10 percent increase over last year. In terms of new students, both first time and transfers, UMPI has seen a 15 percent increase from last year, and a 40 percent increase in new enrollments prior to the pandemic.
Six to be honored with UMPI alumni awards
The University of Maine at Presque Isle and the Alumni Association will present six awards of distinction during the upcoming Homecoming 2022 activities. The annual alumni awards presentations will be made during the Alumni and Friends Blue and Gold Evening to be held on Saturday, Sept. 24 at 5 p.m. in the Campus Center. Zillmans to be honored during UMPI commencement
University of Maine at Presque Isle President Ray Rice has announced that former UMPI President Donald N. Zillman and first lady Linda G. Zillman will deliver a joint commencement address and receive honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degrees during the university’s 113th commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 7.
