Weather prompts RSU 39 board to reschedule meeting twice

CARIBOU, Maine — Record amounts of snow in January forced the RSU 39 school board to reschedule their regular meeting twice.

The meeting, which was initially scheduled for Jan. 23 at 6:30 p.m., was cancelled and rescheduled for Jan. 30. Unfortunately, the area received another big dose of snow on that day, and the meeting was once again cancelled and has been rescheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 6.

The agenda includes discussion of Eastern Aroostook Education Association negotiations, announcements related to new hires, resignations and transfers, as well as openings for a Caribou Middle School girls soccer coach, a Limestone Community School baseball coach, a cook for Caribou High School, and a principal for the new PreK to 8 school, which will be built in mid-2020.

Members of the administration will also hear an update on chronic absence and truancy, and discuss freedom of access training. Two executive sessions will be held, one for employee negotiations and another related to a personnel issue.

The Feb. 6 meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at the Caribou High School library.
