Vikings boys defeat Fort Kent, Winslow

CARIBOU, Maine — The  defending state champion Caribou Vikings varsity basketball team got off to a hot start to its season this past week. 

The Vikings (3-0) defeated Fort Kent 84-46 victory during a Dec. 10 game hosted at Caribou High School.

Parker Deprey scored 25 points for Caribou, with Alex Bouchard scoring 18 and Sawyer Deprey adding 12 points.

Viking player Jake Berkoski also hit an impressive three-quarter court shot at the third period buzzer, all contributing to the Viking’s impressive Tuesday victory. 

Caribou Athletic Director Evan Graves said the boys junior varsity team also “stayed strong and kept the lead for a great win.”

“The boys varsity team had a collective defensive effort,” Graves said, “helped get an early lead, and they never looked back.”

On Saturday, Dec. 14, the varsity team took on the Winslow Black Raiders, winning the game with a 64-41 victory.

Graves said that while the Vikings “got off to a slow start,” they eventually started a 25-0 run, giving them a 22 point lead at halftime.

Deprey also scored the most points during this game with a total of 23. Isaac Marker scored a total of 16, and Bouchard netted 12 points for the team.
