PRESQUE ISLE, Maine – Due to an overwhelming number of contestants, the 2007 Aroostook Idol planning committee added a second central Aroostook Idol show.
Competitions were held Feb. 9-10 at the Presque Isle Middle School Auditorium.
Aroostook Idol, organized by the United Way of Aroostook, is in its third year. The county-wide search for a top vocalist raised nearly $35,000 for the organization last year. The funds are used to support non-profit agencies across Aroostook.
The three finalists from the Friday night show were Annie Charles of Limestone, Julie Shaw of Westfield and Julie Curtis of Chapman.
Three finalists named on Feb. 10 included Erin Buck of Caribou, Danielle Lane of Woodland and Jessica Guyan of Easton.
The six central Aroostook Idol finalists will now join the three finalists from southern Aroostook County, as well as the three finalists from northern Aroostook to compete for the title of 2007 Aroostook Idol.
The Aroostook Idol finale will be held Sunday, March 4 at 2 p.m. at the Caribou Performing Arts Center. Admission is $10. Tickets are available at any Key Bank branch in Aroostook County.
