PRESQUE ISLE, Maine – The Caribou Middle School girls’ ski team earned their second win of the season Friday at the Nordic Heritage Center. The team placed seven skiers in the top-10 for the win with 10 points.
Fort Fairfield took second with 31 points followed by Presque Isle blue with 56, Presque Isle white with 71, Madawaska with 101 and Ashland with 109.
Katie Plourde of Caribou earned the top spot individually with a time of nine minutes and 55.4 seconds. Following were teammates Laura Collins at 10:49.4, Nicole Cyr at 11:18.2 and Madison Outing at 11:18.4. Rounding out the top-five was Fort Fairfield’s Kaitlyn Kinsey at 11:21.2.
Other top-10 finishers included Lydia Kieffer of Caribou in sixth at 11:40.9; Melissa McKenney of Fort Fairfield in seventh at 11:55.9; Ginger Kieffer of Caribou in eighth at 12:00.3; Breanna Randolph of Caribou in ninth at 12:07.1; and Veronica Plourde of Fort Fairfield in 10th at 12.15.2.

The Caribou girls again fielded the winning team on their home snow last Tuesday as the racing season kicked off for the younger grades.
The Lady Vikings placed five racers in the top-10 for a team total of 15 points. They were followed by Union 122 with 46, Fort Fairfield with 52, Fort Kent with 68, Presque Isle blue with 91, Presque Isle white with 102 and Madawaska with 146.
Caribou’s Laura Collins earned the top spot individually with a time of 12 minutes and 43.7. She was followed by teammates Katie Plourde at 13:41 and Madison Outing at 14:08.8.
Rounding out the top-five were Fort Kent’s Cassidy Spencer and Vicky Bernard at 14:16.5 and 14:58.9, respectively.
