The Presque Isle Rotary Club is excited to give readers a glimpse into just a few of the many projects that members have worked on so far this year. We know it probably seems to the general community that the PI Rotary Club’s annual TV/Radio Auction is what we do … and it is …. but projects continue throughout the year!
Presque Isle Rotary club is proud of its 99 members and the 1,681 years of combined service by our members to our community! Some members are brand new and others have been active with us for over 50 years! This group of dedicated volunteers have had countless experiences of “service above self” — Rotary’s motto. This segment only highlights a very few, but we hope you get a better picture of what your generous donations to Rotary Club events really mean with gratitude from each and every one of us!
This year we embarked on some new adventures with a Children’s Thesaurus program for all of SAD 1 and Easton School third-graders. We also had our inaugural golf tournament raising over $12,000 for the Megan Bradstreet Foundation for emergency pediatric transport training and most recently, a book drive with each Rotarian purchasing a new children’s book for the Turner Memorial Library!
We don’t have pictures of all the great causes we support but every month our wonderful board members carefully review requests for funding and when we have helped with funding issues from emergency fuel assistance, to the youth hockey program, to school trips … we have many people like you to thank.
We hope you enjoy this segment as much as we enjoyed the projects. We invite you to take a moment to learn more about Rotary, a worldwide organization of business and professional leaders that provides humanitarian service, encourages high ethical standards in all vocations, and helps build goodwill and peace in the world. Approximately 1.2 million Rotarians belong to more than 32,000 clubs in more than 200 countries and geographical areas. Also visit www.rotary.org
